More Than Physical Therapists

What is “Direct Access” for Physical Therapy?

More Than Physical Therapists

We want to help set you on a clear path toward life without pain. Seeing our expert first provides you with a personalized plan to reach your health goals and minimize the risk of future injury. We are passionate about exceptional care, and work closely with you throughout your treatment to get you back to the activities you love.

Why Physical Therapy first?

What is “Direct Access” for Physical Therapy?

More Than Physical Therapists

Did you know physical therapy can be the only solution you need to help get you back to doing the things you love? Whether you are suffering from back pain, neck pain, head ache, shoulder pain or something else which is limiting your lifestyle, let us see you first. A prescription is not required to start treatment with physical therapy in Pennsylvania. We can help you recover from chronic or new pains, sprains or strains in your joints, back, knees or muscles without having to wait to see the doctor or pay for a doctor’s visit.

What is “Direct Access” for Physical Therapy?

What is the Best Part of seeing a Physical Therapist FIRST?

This means you can see a Physical Therapist, without the need for a referral or prescription from your physician. Direct access provides you with an immediate Physical Therapy option that allows you to start your treatment as soon as possible. Research shows that seeing a Physical Therapist first typically saves the patient and the healthcare system unnecessary expenses and having to pay for costly appointments, tests, or unnecessary medication.

What is the Best Part of seeing a Physical Therapist FIRST?

Early intervention of physical therapy can eliminate the need for expensive imaging tests that can take forever to schedule before you begin getting treatment. Tests including X-Rays, MRIs and CT scans, as well as potentially addictive medications, and unnecessary surgeries are often costly and take more time before you start to feel better. Regardless if you are suffering from back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain or something else, the  great thing about seeing Physical Therapy FIRST is you typically start the treatment you need to begin to feel better right away and if you do need to see a specialist, the Physical Therapist will refer you to the right healthcare professionals often quicker than conventional course treatments which are typically dictated by insurance companies. This ensures that you receive the quality care you need, right from the beginning.

Your First Physical Therapy Session: What to Expect?

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

1. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move around in and allows clinicians to access your point of pain. Sweatpants, gym shoes and other work out attire is preferred.

 2. If you prefer, a significant portion of the initial evaluation can be performed with a phone consultation. A physical exam will also have to be performed in person, but with the phone consultation prior to the first visit could allow for more time to begin treatment.

3. We would like you to complete new patient forms and return them 24-hours prior to your first appointment or Phone Consultation. Be sure you have any medical assistive devices, such as a brace, splint or crutches present for your first visit.

4. Communicate any scheduling adjustments that you need, so we can maximize our time during the Evaluation (as well as other appointments).

5. If you have not done so during your initial phone screen, please schedule out appointments per your plan of care to ensure you’re preferred day(s) and time(s).

Testimonials

JT- "Patrick helped me avoid a trip to the ER!"

I reached out to Patrick one Friday afternoon because I was barely able to get out of bed. When I told him, I hurt my back to the point I couldn't stand up straight or put weight on my left leg and was think about going to the ER, he said he'd be right over. He checked me over to figure out what was the chief cause of my pain and rule out the need to go to the ER. Once he had a good idea of what was causing my pain he work on my back and gave me some specific exercises which helped me to move better and got the pain under control. He educated me a Since I wanted to avoid at trip to the ER, he was able to provide me some pain management positions and exercises which made my symptoms improve every day until I was functioning more normally by the following week.

Addy- "Patrick helped a pain that I've had for years."

I had numbness &weakness in both my arms & hands off-and-on for a few years. I even had PT for carpal tunnel with some improvement, but nothing lasted. Working for the hospital was very stressful through Covid-19 & my symptoms came back worse than before! This time I also had right elbow pain, pain in my upper back & nightly headaches. My numbness & pain started keeping me from sleeping at night. After telling him about my symptoms, he seemed to think the my symptoms were related to my upper back & neck. After we worked on me I had immediate relief & the exercises he gave me continued to improve my symptoms until they completely went away a week later!

Emily- "His training has made me a better athlete."

Patrick has worked with me for the past 3-years. Not only have I become a better volleyball player, but I am faster, stronger and have better control as well as more power & explosiveness! Another area where I have grown in my performance is with my mental toughness!! By working with Patrick I have learned to stay mentally strong when we work through challenges as well as how to perform at my best under pressure instead of playing scared. I know this all has made me a better leader and a "go-to" player on my teams!
